PolyNome: THE Metronome App Reviews

Drummers THIS is it

I have tried most of the metronomes out there. Just take the time to learn the features and you will need nothing else. I especially appreciate the frequent updates.

Excellent tool for musicians

This version keeps the qualities of the former editions, and adds even more functions. Each version is keeps in touch with the newest iOS, while keeping the older iOSes in mind. The addition of more faders and sounds, and the inclusion of delays, makes it even better. Joe makes appropriate changes to testing feedback from student, amateur, and professional musicians, insuring that its as useful as possible to others. Videos, tutorials, examples, the Public Library, great app support are invaluable.

Out of the Box

Bought the original, some time ago, and installed the update, today. Sharp. Innovative. Intuitive. Fun. All-around positive experience, and well worth the money. You will not regret your purchase.

Simply Brilliant!

I am a college music teacher, and this is the metronome I have always wanted! Helps my students learn to count and feel important polyrhythms like 3:4! Thanks Joe

A metronome that keeps reminding me to practice

This app really makes you want to practice and reminds you how long You used it.

Great practice tool

Im an intermediate/enthusiast drummer, and not pro, so I have a shorter, structured practice time. This app helps me structure my practice, track my progress, and really think about the notes I need to play when Im focusing on my technique. As a metronome its great, of course, but its more of a transcription and journaling tool than it might appear - though its difficult to use initially, as you become accustomed to the app youll find it anticipates your needs. Ive loved using it, and the playlist function - as well as the information it returns on each practice session - has been a great boon to efficient but thoughtful practice. edit: With the latest version, Ive come to grips with the playlist function more, and while I sometimes get lost between the app and the video documentation on the website that seems to be fixed. Anyway I still love using this as my metronome and I still maybe only use half of its features.

Amazing Feature Set, Less Than Intuitive

Im really impressed by this app and its developer. For the serious musician, it is money well spent. Know youll also need to invest some time to learn the app. I bought PolyNome last summer, used it for one day, and then it collected dust for the next five months. There are so many options that it was hard to get my head around how it works. With that said, I watched several of the instruction videos over earlier this week and started using it again with the playlist feature. I downloaded the "reducing click" playlist and love it. Over bars it strips away subdivision until youre playing without the click to test your time. Stuff like this is amazingly helpful for practice and can be fun to set up. I love how involved the developer is. This is clearly his baby and he treats it as an artistic expression. That is an amazing gift in an app. Id encourage user interface improvements and overall design improvements to help make the app more intuitive. For example, I wonder if there is a better design and implementation for the mixer. Touch targets are small and feel jumbled up. Last, I love that the developer has created an opportunity to share playlists and practice techniques with an online community. That is awesome. I hope to add some of the things I create and contribute. Thanks to the developer for creating the app you want and love! I love supporting and using apps like yours!

Most valuable bass tool

Having a percussion app like this has contributed immensely to my skill-building exercises. As much as they talk about drums in the tutorials, everything mentioned can be applied towards my practice sessions. Working on it but Im sure I can replicate Neil Peart. Interested to see if I do this, then displace the accents, what kind of madness will come my way.

Review

Best metronome app available. Options to select particular notes, sounds and multiple metronome lines allow for playing to varied polyrhythms.

The best

This is, without a doubt, the best tool for practice. An excellent app to improve your timing and to program and master fills, beats... Just about anything. I love it. Chuck Mancini - PA

Almost Too comprehensive!

There are enough layers of customizable patterns, accents, sounds, placements and grooves to make this a practice, teaching, and gig prep tool. You will never run out of challenges and potential to grow.... thanks!

Every drummer should have this app!

PolyNome is so awesome that the bass player I tour with downloaded PolyNome not long after seeing myself with it and showing him what I learned so far! Updates keep getting better and better! Thanks Joe Crabtree and PolyNome!

Amazing Metronome App

I went to save one of my creations and it said I couldnt until I upgraded to pro. I already paid $7.99 for this app when I first got it. I had to save what I created so I had to pay another $7.99 for the app again. How many times are they going to charge me for the same app? Anyway, after having to pay for the app twice it does work well and I can write anything Im working on with ease. Really cool tool.

Súper!

It do follow up of practice time! A little complicated but a great tool! I love it!

So many useful layers of functionality

Everything about this app makes me happy. I use it to work out tricky passage that include polyrhythms and odd note groupings to great effect. I also use it to program claves to practice with. I can do a 9/8 pattern divided any way with accents and 4 different sounds; the options are nearly limitless. Its easy to use; I just figured it out on my own. This is one of the only apps Ive ever bothered to purchase the full version of. awesome stuff

Best metronome on the market

This thing does it all. You can almost program any beat or poly rhythm here it at any speed and in various time signatures and stickings

Buy this app!

I use this app all the time as a professional drummer. I have the pro upgrade and am very pleased with the app! Just make sure you have cellular enabled! :) Thanks to Joe and his help!

very cool

this is the best metronome app out there!

Get this!

Best metronome app out there. I use it for drum and guitar practice and it is invaluable. Polyrhythms, complicated clicks and increasing tempos are super easy to create. Also, it has a fantastic tutorial for just about every item on the screen! Great update!!

this metronome definitely is another thing.

I have been using for a long time Frozen Tempo & Frozen Tempo Advance and I like them. But this metronome definitely is another thing. besides doing everything that tempo and tempo Adv does, you will have more features. Its almost like a drum machine, you can do rhythms and playing along with them. Go to YouTube for the videos. One of the things that I like it too, is the customer service. If you want all the features, you have to buy the pro version thats cost 8 dollars more. But first you have to buy the regular version and update it to pro version. Finally we can share your presets whit your friends. That is awesome!
